Sunday May 31

Today I woke up early and ran a 10K.  I miss running outside but it's nice that our apartments have a gym that we can use.  I like to open the windows so that I get some fresh air while I run.  The gym has a great view of the water - which is nice.  After my run I skyped with mom and dad for a while... it was really nice to catch up with them!  They're in Savannah right now for a show and I hope they're having a great time.  I guess Bret's going to be sending me some videos of Gizmo being crazy.  After skying, I went to a brai (a cookout) with the whole program.  One of the attorney's in town who helps our program had his parents offer to cook for us.  They have a beautiful home which was just used in the new Clint Eastwood/Morgan Freeman movie about apartheid -- it should be coming out in the next year.  Apparently their house looks like Mandella's house in Jo'burg.  Anyway, we had delicious food but the mother was really mad at everyone after dinner - she said that we come from a wasteful society because people put more food on their plates than they could eat.  I, however, did not contribute to her frustration because I definitely cleaned my plate.  After I got seconds.  Oh, and the open bar was a nice touch too.  We all had fun chatting - it was Kevin and Julie's birthday so we sang to them.  After the brai we all came back to the apartments, freshened up and went to Cafe Caprice in Camps Bay.  It was soooo much fun.  I met up with a good friend from home, Ben, and hung out with his friends - possibly the most entertaining car ride of my life.  They rented a 1970s VW bug.  I'm pretty sure I was airborne at least 4 or 5 times.  I wish I had a photo of the car but hopefully I can snag one from Ben for proof.  We ran into Wayne Brady at cafe caprice... everyone was really excited.

Some of my very favorite girls!  Alex and Kristy. Cheers :)
