Wednesday June 10th

Wed -
Had a wake up cal this morning at 7 and had to be on the bus at 8 to go to Chimp Eden.  An hour and a half outside of Kruger, it's a sanctuary and rescue arena for abused, neglected chimps - most come from the meet market, zoos, and personal owners.  Our guide, Sophie, introduced us to all the different chimps and told us their stories and she did all of that as she continuously fed them.  I figured we were all going to get to hold or touch a chimp - I had no idea they are incredibly violent - they have the strength of two-three grown men and the brain of the five year old.  We witnessed a squabble between the chimps while we were there however Sophie told us that a real fight between two grown males always results in the removal of testicles, the face and sometimes death.  Needless to say, there was an electric fence seperating us from them.  I had no idea - I thought I'd get to cuddle one!  Maybe bring one home for a pet?

After that - we headed back to Kruger and geared up for a night drive!  I was so pumped - I knew we'd see lions feeding, etc.  We saw a rabbit and a frog.  But!  It was so, so much fun riding through the bush at night tailing every set of eyes that we saw with out high candle lights.  Got back - had a great dinner - went to sleep early for the big game drive in the AM.
